Heritage Homestead Wedding | Northford, Connecticut
Everything about Erica and Justin’s day made me feel so inspired!! I met up with them a few days before to check out their venue! Heritage Homestead is a place I’ve never shot at before, so I wanted to make sure I knew the lay of the land and get an idea of where it would be best light wise to do all the portraits! And I’m so glad I did! This place has so much land and is SO BEAUTIFUL! I wanted to take pictures everywhere and anywhere!! So we made a little game plan of the places we would try to go for their big day! Just seeing the space got me even more excited for their wedding!
Along with that, Erica and Justin are so easy going and so fun!! I had a blast with them all day! Not to mention that let me take them outside three times to get allllll the portraits of them!! The light kept getting better and better and I couldn’t resist and they were more than happy to take more! <3
I had a good amount of favorite moments on this day. The first was during Erica’s getting ready time. I think sometimes its easy to go through the motions on a wedding day without really allowing yourself time to take it all in. But Erica didn’t let the in between moments pass her by without acknowledging them. After she put on there dress, naturally she wanted to look in the mirror. And in that moment I could see through the tears that started to well up, she realized that she was officially a bride that day. Taking that time I think is really special. She didn’t rush the process. With each getting ready step, in between the laughs and excitement, were the occasional tears of allowing herself the realize that the day had finally come!
My second favorite moment was of course seeing Justin’s reaction to Erica walking down the isle to him. This will always be a favorite for me at weddings. But what I love most is grooms don’t even expect that kind of reaction from themselves. Justin told us after the ceremony that he didn’t think he was going to cry, but when she turned that corner he just couldn’t help it! Even as he was telling us that, he started to tear up a little again!! It makes my heart melt when I see and hear that!!
And lastly I LOVE how amazing this family is with dancing!! I shot Justin’s cousin’s wedding (Katelyn & Jamie, love them!) and new already going into Erica and Justin’s wedding that we would have a very fun reception to photograph! And we did!! It was amazing!!
Thank you Erica and Justin for allowing me and trusting me to be part of your big day!! I’m so happy I got to know you two and capture how amazing you guys are together!! I wish you both so much happiness!!
