I think Connor and Ashley’s engagement session at the Owenego Inn was one of my favorite sessions to date!! Usually I utilize engagement sessions for two main purposes. One is so I can get the know my couples better and so they can get to know me! That allows them to be more comfortable in front of my camera as well, since getting your picture taken can feel awkward sometimes! And two is to show my couples my posing system, so that on the day of their wedding they don’t even have to think about it and can just fluidly move through the motions and have fun with it! This is particularly helpful in case wedding timeline goes off track and we only have a shorter time to get their portraits done!
When starting the session I always let my couples know that the first 10-15 minutes is when you’ll feel the most awkward (because lets be real, no one naturally stands in these poses! Its not super normal!! lol). But with Ashely and Connor, they have such outgoing and fun personalities that they fell into the groove immediately! Towards the end of our session I barely had to coach them at all! They had such fun with it and kept me laughing and feeling excited the whole time!
I loved that Connor can make Ashley laugh so easily by just being themselves and goofing around! It made for some really candid and sweet moments between the two of them! Not to mention their outfits were so on point!! Give me a flowing dress with the ocean breeze to create beautiful movement any day!! I cannot wait for their wedding next year! I know already its not only going to be so beautiful, but lots of fun too!!
