I love doing maternity sessions! The mom to be is always glowing and just looks so beautiful!! So like any other maternity session, I was so excited for Marissa and John’s! BUT with the excitement turned into nerves when I realized how INCREDIBLY windy it was going to be!!
We met at Harvey’s Beach in Old Saybrook about an hour before sunset for their session. It had been raining on and off earlier, which thankfully it cleared up, but left some crazy winds!! When I see how windy it is I IMMEDIATELY think of hair. Hair just blowing everywhere we don’t want it to! There’s Beyonce wind, which we love, then theres gale force winds….which we despise!! This was the gale force winds kind!
As we got started my brain was trying to think quickly about how I can get them photos they are going to love and cherish with this wind! After a few minutes of shooting in a few areas that were kind of working, there was THANKFULLY a small building next to us that I suggested we stand on the other side of it. Once we did that, the building was blocking majority of the wind and we were able to get some of my favorite maternity shots to date!!
Marissa brought this really cute blanket with her which we utilized a good amount because A: I LOVED the look of it on the beach and B: Marissa was freezing! Both her and John were such troopers during this whole thing. And I’m so so happy they were able to trust me with standing next to this random building for more than half of their shoot to get these shots!
Thank you both so much for allowing me to capture these moments for you!! You both were incredible and looked so beautiful together!!
